Traffic Shifts North in Roundabout Project Zone
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-September 10, 2021-The Steamboat Blvd/Mt. Werner Rd Roundabout Project hits a major milestone when traffic through the construction site will shift to the northside of the roadway during the latter part of next week around September 15.
“So much of the early work was underground infrastructure and out of sight by the community, but now the hard work of crews is clear as we transition traffic flow and construction to new areas of the project,” commented Project Manager and Public Works Engineer Danny Paul. “As stated throughout the project, we remain on schedule for a November completion.”
With the shift, one-lane traffic in each direction will flow on the newly paved road where much of the underground work on the north side is now complete, except for the installation of two walls to the north of Old Mt. Werner Road. A small portion of Steamboat Blvd closest to Mt. Werner Rd, will remain closed until the project is complete. However, Old Mt. Werner Road will reopen providing connectivity to Steamboat Blvd via Montview Lane for both westbound and eastbound traffic.
This is still an active construction site and motorists are asked to proceed S L O W L Y through the work zone. Pedestrian and bicycle access is provided through a defined path at three designated locations.
“With the freshly paved surface, it will be easy to forget this is still an active work zone,” continued Paul. “Please slow down and follow all posted signage and speed limits so crews can safely complete their work.”
Project construction efforts will continue in full force until November at which time the roundabout will open for vehicles to use. Work runs from 7am to 7pm, Monday through Friday and beginning in mid-September will also include weekend work. The project team hosts bi-weekly virtual meetings and the meeting schedule, project updates and photos can be found at engagesteamboat.net/roundabout
